ok so I used to go to a magnet school.a great school.ranked number 1 in tennesee and number 23 in the nation by newsweek and world report.but i left that school to go to a school that had IB.im definately doing the IB diploma program.but i kinda wanna mix AP in there.i know i cant take any AP classes junior and senior year.i was thinking about taking 3 AP tests next year.im taking ap euro next year, and self studying for the AP human geography test,as well as the AP spanish test because spanish is my first language.also my senior year i will be taking french in IB so i was also thinking about taking the AP french test.i am currently a freshman.so is it really a good plan?

umm... how can you fit more AP courses in your FULL IB diploma program?
I am doing fully IB dip. program and jeez, i don't even get lunches sometimes..

yeah thats what i was worried about.the only ap CLASS that i am taking is ap euro next year (10th grade),but im self studying for the AP human geography test.im not taking the class just the test next year.and the ap spanish i will onyl have to review sentence struscture and all that written stuff since i speak spanish at home.and AP french, well im hoping i will learn french welll enough in IB to be able to take the AP test.so IB will keep me too busy for all of that?

My school's IB program had juniors taking AP tests after junior year, and IB tests after senior year. I'd bet your junior year classes have a lot of overlap with the AP material.

@mistofolis, I know where you're coming from. IB (done right) can be hell.

thats what im really loving about having made the decision about doing IB.what you learn prepares you for IB as well so you get both AP and IB.im really looking forward to junior and senior year now.i though i was just some crazy freshman wanting to do alot of ap's plus the IB diploma program

I'm adding AP calc and AP bio to a full diploma

damn man, thats pretty bold.well see i couldnt do that because at my school we only take 6 classes. so IB takes up all of them

Yes, it's possible to take the AP tests while taking IB classes, with a bit of self-study thrown in to fill the gaps. I did hear, however, that IB French B is not as linguistically advanced as AP French Lang, so you may need to do some work on that. However your plans may change as you get more into the IB Diploma...;)

well form all of the post ive read i dont feel as crazy.also im aiming to receive a bilingual IB diploma by taking the tests both in spanish and in english.i hope all of this looks good for colleges.is IB really as rigurous as people say?

I combine AP and IB. You just need to take more APs in your sophomore year. There's only room for 2 APs junior year (AP English is combined with IB) and like 3 senior year.

im thinking of talkign to the counselor about my scechdule and changing ,y culinary arts into AP world history or AP US history.i will be a sophomore so whihc one do you guys recommend?

If you're doing SL history I would go with AP US history because the 11th grade SL history curriculum is euro history. You could take the AP exam then.

well they are making me take IB history of the americas,
