AP vs. IB

<p>I think I am going to take a mix, this is what my schedule would look like:</p>

<p>Honors Pre-Cal
IB French 5
AP Chem (double period)
IB English (It's a 2 year course)
IB History (2 year course)
Maybe AP Psych or APUSH</p>

<p>And senior year I would take:
IB French 6
AP Physics
IB English
IB History
Tech probably ugh its required
And another AP/IB class</p>

<p>I was wondering if mixed was good or should I go "full AP" or "full IB." Also one of the reasons I might not go Full IB is because I'm a mathy person and want to go into BC Calc and stuff like that.</p>

<p>IB sucks. Take IB only if you really want to take a certain class. Don’t do full IB; it will only decrease your GPA.</p>

<p>IB gives you a more well rounded education while in AP you can focus on the things you like as you can choose your courses and they’re usually 1 year.</p>

<p>In full IB, you have to take a history course, english, math, sicence, foreign language and group 6.</p>

<p>In “full ap”, you can take 2 sciences, 2 maths, however you’d like.</p>

<p>I’m doing IB as it prepares me for university better imo.</p>

<p>P.S.: When colleges mention they’d like you to take the hardest courses available, that means taking full IB (if possible)</p>

<p>IB is much, much harder from what I’ve experienced. It can depend on your school and teacher though.</p>

<p>Yeah. I do AP because I can choose what I want to do. I also wouldn’t want to focus on a subject I hate for two years. I also wouldn’t want to fail in a required class.</p>

<p>My IB friends seem like they never have homework…</p>

<p>Whatevs. AP gives me more freedom to choose what I want to do. I mean, who wants to take Theory of Knowledge? The heck is that?</p>

<p>I prefer the IB program. It teaches you how to THINK, rather than just memorizing facts and use them. It prepares you better for college as it has a very well rounded curriculum and challenges its students in different ways such as oral component and writing aspects. IB program also comes with CAS, which pushes teenagers to be more involved with their communities and go out in the world to be leaders rather than just sit at home and make flash cards. TBH if you take AP, they teach you lots of facts that you’re gonna forget this time next year so what’s the point?
IB ftw, I’m not a full candidate but I definitely enjoy IB classes better. We don’t have busy work either. just my two cents.</p>
