Mixing up the names of schools

. . . and to make it even more confusing, there’s an Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

A student arrived at the admisison office at Colby before realizing that she was not at her intended destination, Colby-Sawyer College.

Here, people confused Caltech with Cal Poly.
My favorite goof, though: Harvey Mudd vs. Harvard Med.

University of Washington vs. WashU.

Swarthmore vs. Skidmore.

Northwestern College vs Northwestern University.
University of Wisconsin vs University of Washington
University of Miami vs Miami University
Any of the Wesleyans…
Any college that has the name of a state that it isn’t it
Any college that share a similar name (city, name, church affiliation, etc).

Not sure about mixing up but I love when people use acronyms on these boards like we all know what the **** they mean.

What are my chances of getting into FHU GNS GI AD GJS FS WIG FJ and MI? Like we’re suppose to google this **** and figure it out.

Years ago, when my Harvard bound brother was written up in the paper for being valedictorian-the paper wrote that he would be attending Howard.

Yeah, I remember someone last year got super angry when someone else asked what BC was and acted as if not knowing what an acronym stands for was the worst possible crime ever.

^^^ Boston College and Boston University are commonly confused.
I also remember reading here a year or so back that someone showed up at Colby thinking they were at Colgate.

BC =/= Boston University

that should be fairly obvious

USF (University of San Francisco) and USF (University of South Florida).

What’s hilarious is that the school colors of both schools are Green and Gold!

suny at buffalo vs. suny college at buffalo

Washington University in St. Louis vs. Washington State vs. George Washington University

suny at buffalo vs. suny college at buffalo

which one’s the football one?

Howard versus harvard. Sounds so alike.

i always screw up BC and BU, which is pretty tragic considering i grew up not far from boston. i just don’t remember which one is on the green line!

I went to a BU reception once where an admissions officer told us a story about how she read an essay where the applicant kept referring to Boston College. Needless to say, he was rejected.

Boston University vs. Boston College (my bro goes to BC and family friends always get the 2 mixed up)

Williams College vs. College of William & Mary (maybe this is just my mom… one time she asked me if i got a letter from “Williams & Mary” yet. haha)

gotta admit i was confused with UCSD and USD.

oh and as other people mentioned before, all the loyolas and wesleyans really mess me up!

Mine was absolutely ■■■■■■■■, here goes:-

I was reading up MIT and Williams College’s websites at the same time and decided to e-mail MIT admissions to clear some doubts but after hitting send I realized that in the e-mail I wrote “… eligible to apply to Williams…” Had to write them a follow-up e-mail explaining the confusion just so that they wouldn’t ignore my previous one by thinking that I sent it to them by accident.

MIT and Williams are not even close.

FAIL.

Hamilton and Colgate…Colgate is in Hamilton, NY
