Mmm...Chance Me? :)

I guess a “Chance Me” thread would reassure me somehow, so thank you so much for whoever is chancing me :)

GPA: 3.68 Weighted
SAT: 1890

2 AP classes and a bunch of HNS classes.

I took 2 college courses each summer since my Sophomore year so I think I might have about 12 community college credits?

Not a lot of extra curricular activities because of my family circumstances, but here they are:
Studio Art, Tae Kwon Do, Environmental Club.

I also had two teachers who told me that they will write very good letters of recommendation for me so if that helps with anything.

And I’m pretty confident with my application essay.

I just submitted the application and I"m worried, should I schedule an interview? I am really in love with American University and I hope some of your answers will help me so I can either stop stressing out or start panicking. Thank you ^^

I was on a chat recently with AU admissions. They said the interview was “strictly informational.”

I emailed the school and they said the same thing, too, but how else am I supposed to show them that I am extremely interested in the school? I read some other “Chance Me” posts and I’m kinda nervous.

It helps to think of it as in “strictly informational…as to how interested you are in AU”

At a school like AU, which gets A LOT of applications, but is not as selective as some schools like Georgetown, being a known quantity to your admissions rep is a good thing. AU has a lot of applications to choose from…but it wants to admit those students who most want to come to campus.

Although this year the admissions office was way off in its predictions…AU was substantially overenrolled (meaning more students accepted the offer of admission than had been expected) and as a result that at the beginning of the year about half of the first year class was tripled in dorms to make room for everyone. Just about everyone has been detripled by now, though.

I don’t know what effect this will have on this year’s admission decisions.

When one looks at the 25%-75%, it should be remembered that this represents accepted and matriculating students. One has no idea what percentage of candidates in this cohort are rejected.

They were way off their predictions the previous year as well. The AU Strategic Plan actually has them shrinking the undergraduate enrollment (by about 250 a year.) This will be over time, of course.

buuuump, any more suggestion please? :(
