Molecular Biology: Dartmouth, UWisconsin, UMich, UCSD or other

Anyone looking to study biology / biotechnology should consider the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute:

Also, look at the awesome computing power that Rensselaer is about to aquire:

Have you considered Berkeley? It is the closest to a European environment you can get (a whole lot less "Californian" than UCSD), with a nice town, campus and cafe culture. It's also probably better than all the schools you've listed in that field. There is a growing Russian and Ukranian community there (Sacramento I hear has a large community.) A lot of Shevchenko jerseys in the soccer fields...

Of your list, Wisconsin is a nice campus and a solid school. You can't go wrong with Michigan either. Dartmouth is a very different environment but the students it attracts love the school.

As much as i'd love to go to Berkeley (good school, there's been enough said about it), my parents, especially stepdad, would rather kill me than let me go there :( got some hardcore republicans in the house.
Wisconsin pretty much remains my top pick, since it's a nice school and afaik it is strong in biological sciences. I'm just not entirely sure how good it really is.
PS Sheva rules! :)

Hey, the largest student party on campus is the Republican Party... Maybe this will help Dima, good luck. ;)

UW probably holds as many Bio patents as any single school. The National Stem Cell Bank will be there. They are starting a $150 Million bio research building that will grow to two or three times that in 10 years. Every bioscience major dept. has new buildings. They do the most sponsored bio research in the US. It is very good.

One more question, kinda important: is McGill any good at cellular/molecular bio?

bump bump bump
