Molecular Biology dept

How is Pomona's molecular biology dept? is it strong? what about their biology dept in general?
tnx.:D

I haven't taken the classes, but bio and mo-bio are some of the strongest departments at Pomona. Another poster can chime in with more specifics, but my friends who are in the major love it.

I am a former MoBio major that's had enough sciences and has switched to Media Studies, so keep that in mind. Molecular Biology is really a mix of biology and chemistry, though there is a dedicated MoBio professor. Pomona's chemistry department is outstanding. In intro classes, I've found the biology department to be a mix--I've had one phenomenal professor and one that wasn't nearly as good. I have a feeling that the classes get better as they're more advanced--as they tend to focus on specific topics that professors are more interested in. I haven't taken any more advanced courses, though and can't really speak about them. Professors are generally very accessible and there are some great research opportunities (with a SURP, for example, Pomona will pay students $4000 to do research over the summer with a faculty member for 10 weeks--awesome program: Pomona College : Dean of the College)

thanks for the advice both of you :D
