how good is the molecular bio major there?

Wondering what Pomona grads do with this major--are most premed? Or are do they go into research? What is the department's reputation and how good is the teaching?

These links should help answer the first two/three questions.

Thanks, helpful links. Looks like Pomona sends fewer science students to PhD programs, but more to MD programs than Harvey Mudd. Are Pomona's science GPAs generally higher than Mudd's? Wondering which would be better for a student interested in medical school, where GPA and MCAT are everything. Pomona's placements are impressive.

Hello, I'm a freshman pursuing bio (or neuro) major and on the pre-med track.
The science courses here are very difficult to get "A"s in...in fact, I hesitate to say there is a course that's an "easy A." (For instance, have you ever heard of a introductory drawing class that's as time-consuming as a lab?) But so far, I'm getting a lot out of my classes, especially genetics (the first in the bio series and pre-requisite for all upper division mo-bio courses; there are 4 professors teaching it, and I've heard good things about all of them), and I really like all of my professors. But if you're interested in a perfect record, this might not be the best place...students who've had straight A's all throughout high school are finding that they can, in fact, get C's and D's on papers and midterms.

Thanks for your advice. Can you send me a PM with the names of the bio/molecular bio/genetics profs that you think are the best lecturers and teachers there? And any to avoid if they are weak?
