You don't wake up one day and decide to be native american. my children are of native decent and are ambassadors of their heritage. how do you apply for an african american scholorship? do you have to take a DNA test? we can prove our ancestery. i will gladly take a reservation home if that is what i need to do.

You have to apply for tribal membership, if you are not already a member of a tribe. This often requires a blood quantam level. Many tribes require at least 1/4 Native American blood to qualify. As far as I know, there is no DNA test that they use. Everything must be determined by historical documents. You must be able to find PROOF that your family is Native American, like birth records, tribal documents, etc.
