Mom won't let me repeat. Apply for senior year anyways?

Well, Exeter has reached target enrollment, and there probably won't be any movement. So should I apply senior year? I know there is no point of going for only one year, but if I get in it will be a nice legacy boost for my future children.

Do they admit seniors? I have heard juniors and PG’s.

Yes they admit people who apply to senior year

Unless you are going to donate a few buildings, the legacy boost is pretty low these days.

Seriously - they are known to take a few seniors, but those people are extraordinary or have some much needed hook. Saying you graduated from “Exeter” is supposed to mean you had a large part of your schooling there. Still - I even met a non-jock post grad years ago. So you won’t know if you don’t try right?

I am urm also

So am I and I don’t think that’s relevant. My response as an interviewer would be - so? What else do you have going for you?

woishe - You have very little chance of getting into Exeter regardless of what year you apply for . . . not because there’s anything wrong with you, but because Exeter accepts only a very small percentage of all the students who apply. Applying to the 12th grade (as has been pointed out here) makes it near impossible. You have another nine months before your application to Exeter would be due - I’d strongly encourage you to use that time to discuss the situation with your mother. Explain to her why you want to attend Exeter and the near-insurmountable hurdle you’d have to make it over in order to attend as an incoming 12th grader. If she has questions about the implications of your repeating a grade, she can come to this forum to ask them - we’d be happy to help! In the meantime, I would also very strongly suggest that you broaden your horizons and consider what other schools you might be willing to apply to . . . limiting yourself to Exeter (regardless of what grade you’re applying to) is, in most cases, a recipe for disappointment. (I know you were at one point willing to consider other schools - have you changed your mind?)

Focus on your game plan for college.

Thanks guys. I will just see if I get off the wait-list. If i I don’t, I’m just gonna go to the school wherever I move too.
