Moment in History?!

The Yale supplement asks, "If you could witness one moment in history, what would it be and why?"

What did you all put? Should it be witty? Is it necessary to "fit" with the rest of the application, i.e. reitirate a theme in an essay or related to the chosen major? Or am I just overthinking this? Any advice is appreciated :D

Just be simple and honest. That’s what I did. It doesn’t have to be related to your essay or major–I think these Short Takes are just to gain a glimpse of other facets of you–you don’t want ALL of your application to be the same.

Whatever comes to you. I went amusing, cause it was the first thing I thought off.

I think you are overthinking it. I just went with the one moment in history I really would like to witness, regardless of how that would look in the eyes of the Yale adcoms.

I would say try to give an unique event. Although many popular times in history are worth to see, it’s just hard to capture their attention given the word limit.

I wrote about something I guarantee they have never seen before and probably will never see again. It was also something that was “me.”

OP keep in mind that the Yale application process is still going on - people might copy what they see here. After January 2nd rolls around, I’m sure we’ll be more apt to discussing.

To answer your question, don’t stress about making your answer to this short take “fit” the rest of your application. I think the purpose of this question is to demonstrate your creativity/diversity anyways.
