Mom's Tips

for many of us starting this fall, its probably the first time we're going to have to face the washing machine......

....so i was wondering if we could get a collection of tips going from all the moms on stuff you think would be handy to know....not just about laundry

cheers

my mom advises me to carry a condom everywhere I go. (I'm a boy) :)

hahaha aha

repost in parents forum for more results amargrosa

Let's see... wash like colors together, cold water for darks and colors, warm water for everything else...

when in doubt, use cold water. Time in the dryer(only) does not freshen up a shirt worn the night before.

willow, in my limited laundering experience, your advice comes as, well, way too complicated and hard to remember. especially for us guys out there.

i went to boarding school at age 14. until told otherwise, i threw alll of my clothes in the same wash, darks, colors, you name it! my mother was absolutely appalled, and so we spent a saturday going over how to do laundry.

that said, the laundry machines at most schools will help you through. Instead of "hot" and "cold" buttons, there are "dark clothes" and "whites" buttons.

Youll definitely need a taser, stun gun, pepper spray, night stick, extendable baton (in either 16 or 18 inch)...or you could just stay in your room

Don't get fat.

Prepster,
I know. During summer school, many people were doing their laundry for the first time. Much assistance was required by the guys. Don't moms ever make guys help with the laundry?

takingbacksaturday must be a paranoid, sheltered child.

laundry's not too hard, but always make sure you stash away emergency money....like $100 or something, just incase.

I definitely am...i wonder why West Point would ever want me?

There is a service where they come and pick up students' clothing, wash it and dry it, and return it within 48 hours....

Eh...I wonder if my parents would actually pay for it.

Anyway, I am dreading the day my mother talks to me about having sex in college......

This is what my mom says:

"When you want to look cool with your sunglasses, and you left them in your car out in the sun, don't put them on right away. Cool them first, or you can blow a blood vessel in your eye."

Yes, this is typical advice I get from my mother dearest.

wow effulgent, i nvr thought of dat one!! thnx :)

good advice effulgent

Mom says don't sleep with your hair wet, you'll get a headache and grow mold on your pillow.

yeah shes right, and you'll end up with the funkiest hair. unless thats what you want.

You can grow mold on your pillow from sleeping with your hair wet? I've never seen that happen to anyone.

Ugh, disgusting. Imagine waking up to find you're rubbing your face is some green fuzz.

I always sleep with wet hair and my pillow is mold free. They build something into them to resist that sort of stuff, and double pillowcases work well too.
