Money from Math?

Hello! I'm new here but I've browsed the forums and I see that there a lot very informed people. So, with this in mind,...

What kind jobs involving math would yield a lot of money? It doesn't have to be theoretical or applied, but just any kind of math. Is all the money really in positions like quants and what not? Basically, is the only great source of income for a mathophile in business?

Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not just in it for money. Although my true love is math, I truly like money as well. ^^;;

Actuary.
Google it.
Its what Im looking into and I love the same thing as you (math + $)

I’m not sure, I do want to major in math, but I don’t know where that will take me…

Oh, I love your profile name :D…
The one rule to limits that I can actually remember XD

[Be An Actuary](http://www.beanactuary.com)

Actuaries CAN make a lot. However, most don’t get to that top level of high earnings. I would actually recommend not being an actuary.

^Euler, why do you say that? I keep reading ad nauseum that actuaries are highly paid. I remember people telling me to choose actuary vs accounting because actuaries make more money, more interesting, etc.

Good actuaries will top out at a bit over 100,000. If you want big money, be a quant; go into trading. If you can crack trading, you can make several hundred thousand a year.

Oh yea, and you misspelled L’Hospital

Please, tell me you are joking? L’Hospital? Is that a joke?

I’ve seen it spelled both ways, L’H

@Giants: just over 100k seems really low. I’ve read that you can easily make 200k, and the best ones can top at 300k.

Possibly? Yes. Easily? No. It requires a lot of time, work, and luck.
