Money question help

The school I am trying to transfer to for next Spring tuition/fees is $3,665 per semester, so $7,330 a year. The problem is, the school does not have dorms or meal plans. They do however help you find an apartment in the area, which they said they can find me a shared apartment for about $450 a month. Most people I know who live by themselves only spend on a strict budget about $150 month on groceries.

This means

Year tuition - $7300
Ten months rent- $4,500
Ten months food- $1,500
TOTAL 10 Months = $13,300

I am doing ten months rent, because I can live the other two back home. I am dependent, and I'll be getting about $3,500 from FASFA. I can get $6,500 from student loans. This will leave me about $3000 dollars short. My parents can not help as they only live day to day and aren't able to co-sign anything. Any ideas on how I can get $3,000 so I can be able to transfer to the college I want to? I know scholarships, but they are so hard to come by, especially for a sum of $3,000.

You can try to apply for a pell grant.

“The maximum Pell Grant award for the 2010-11 award year (July 1, 2010 to June 30, 2011) is $5,550.”

Thanks, but that’s where I took the $3,500 from FASFA off at!
