Hey. I'm a prospective transfer student looking at Monmouth University. I have a couple of quesitons...

What is student life like? Are there enough options to take if you don't drink?
I am interested in studying theater arts, whether it be major, double major with comm., or minor....
What are the theater opportunities like? Is there a musical each year or every other year? Do students often audition at the professional theater that is on campus?

Hello Laura…I have similar questions as well, so I hope we can hear from a current student about these things. Also, what kind of town is West Long Branch?

West Long Branch is a little home town. Everyone knows each other, with many locals never leaving the area. There are some areas down near the beach that are sketchy, but they have put alot of money into the oceanfront area which has helped to clean up the rif raff. The college seems nice enough, small and personal but pricey. As a theater major, not so hot. And it’s an hour and 45 minute train ride to NYC.

Monmouth University has great professors that really want their students to succeed. I think it is better as a commuter, many of the students who live in the dorms party, but if you are outgoing you will find a group who does not, you will need to search, though.
