I am attitash. My D audioned th 24th of March and has heard nothing. She even knew her auditioner for singing/monolgue. Is Montclair slow at sending out descisions?

I found out my d passed her audition because I called. I think they are a bit slow

Very slow, my D still has not heard.

rglick...you should really call and tell them you have other school deadlines.

recv'd email notice today that rejected. Already made decision to go else where

My son also auditioned March 24th, he received a reply by the end of March--he was accepted. They only accepte 20 students in the MT program this year. From all the information I have been able to gather, Montclair has become a competitive MT program to get into, my son is very happy to be going there.

please cross your fingers for my d. Montclair Dance Bfa is her 1st choice. She has been accepted based on her audition. They are recieving her (not so great grades today)...she is a beautiful dancer and hopefully will be givin the oppurtunity to shine

Crossing fingers....... Hopefully my daughter's slot opened up for someone on this board!

tashmu.....thank you! was your d for dance or mt? was she accepted? where is she going? Best of Luck!! and thanks again.

Oh, sorry, it was early in the morning when I replied to you, but hr slot was for MT. She accepted at CCM (MT)!

Since my daughter is deciding between Montclair and one other college this week, I have been in contact with a current freshman at Montclair via e-mail and also the director of housing there.

The student is happy with his housing situation at Russ and has only heard of a few instances of heat and hot water outages. He is extremely happy with the MT program in pretty much every way. The only complaint he had was he wished there were more acting courses for freshmen, but Clay James has proposed a new curriculum, which he told my D and I when we were there last week, which will incorporate more acting and sounds great! He says that many of their students are working, one is in Avenue Q, and raves about being able to go to NYC and take courses, dance classes, etc. on weekends. All in all, he is a happy camper!

The housing director conceded that there have been problems with heat, particularly in Freeman Hall, so the heating system in Freeman is being upgraded and will be ready for fall '07. They are planning to build a new residence hall but she does not know when it will be completed. There are definitely triple rooms because of the growth at the university, which I am not thrilled about, but all colleges are experiencing exponential growth right now, so I guess my D will just have to accept that if she chooses to go to Montclair. She referenced the unprecedented amount of capital development in recent years and the ever increasing number of students requesting housing.

All I can say now is that I certainly feel better about the things in general there and although the housing situation is not quite what I would wish, the theatre dept. more than makes up for it. The location with regards to NYC is hard to beat - Christine Ebersole is teaching a class there this fall I hear! We will see what D decides, but I will be more than happy if she chooses Montclair and I believe that she will be also.

we should hear from Montclair in the next few days...I hope putting in our packet saying my d is coming at such late notice doesnt hurt her chances for housing...I hear it is pretty limited.

My D just decided on Montclair as her final decision college! I am excited and think she definitely made the best decision for her. YIPPEE!!!!!! Now we can move on to planning for graduation!

dancermom...is your d for dance or MT? I guess by your "dancermom" name it is dance but you never know with these multi talented kids!

Lisa - I should have clarified! It is for MT, but she is an advanced dancer, so hopefully will be placed in a lot of classes with the "dancers" and will get to know your D well! PM me!

put your housing deposit in very quickly..there already is no housing left for MANY returning students and i doubt all or most of freshman will get housing

I overnighted the form and check and housing request today. The housing director assured me that there is housing, but most freshmen will probably be in triples. I stated unequivocally that she cannot be in a hotel, because she is not taking a car in freshman year and the theatre curriculum requires too much time on campus. Supposedly they hold 1275 spots for incoming freshman housing. Here's hoping!

I Got In!!!

Yay Kayla! I didn't even know you had applied! Bravo! Life has ups and downs and I am so glad that you now have your "up"! Happy for you.

thanks soozie!...if any of you guys are interested....i would like to offer up myself as a roomate :)
