More accolades for diversity at Grinnell

Grinnell College - Newsweek - Education

And it also made the list of Most Desirable Small Schools and Most Desirable Rural Schools, too.

thanks for posting this, M’s Mom. the URL indicates it was published on Sept 12 - has it really been online that long? I don’t know how I missed it.

grrr… wish they’d start using the updated stats! I’m pretty sure admissions selectivity is now in the 30% range. Most recent common data set shows it at about 34%. Also, ethnic diversity is even a bit higher now than what is in Newsweek.

Anyway, this 43% acceptance rate is everywhere still.

^^ According to the CDS, about 34% for the Class of 2013. I think it was a little higher for the Class of 2014, but can’t remember where I saw that.

I think it’s great that Grinnell is having success enrolling a diverse student body. Goes to show that even a small college in a rural, non-diverse area CAN attract students of color if it puts effort and resources into doing so. Other “middle of nowhere” LACs should take note.

I think their large endowment enables them to offer better FA to international students than most schools can. They currently have students from 77 non-US countries, not 50 as this article reports.
