I don’t know - although I’m sure someone else here can provide an answer.

But please explain to me what you would accomplish by not applying for aid if you, in fact, need it? Or, alternatively, what you would accomplish by applying for aid when you don’t, in fact, need it?

You need to call each one of them and ask if they are going to be need blind for admissions this next season for international students. Call the admissions office and talk to a counselor, preferably the one that deals with international students.

If you do get accepted to any school and you did not apply for aid, please understand that it often means that you cannot get aid in future years without showing a big change in financial circumstances from the first year when you did not ask for aid. Many financial aid offices are on to the trick of trying to beat the need aware policies by borrowing for one year, and then crying poor and trying to get money for the rest of the time. This policy is in place for US applicants too when they are dealing with schools that are need aware for admissions to them. It’s a common ploy, and yes, the colleges are aware of it.

Do you need financial aid or are you able (and willing) to pay the $50,000+/year price tag?

Don’t skip financial aid to increase your chances of admissions. If you can’t pay, you can’t go.

For international students…you must be able to demonstrate that you have sufficient money to cover your college costs or you will NOT be granted a visa to study in this country. This can include financial aid that has been firmly offered to you.

I have been told that those forms are often filled out with no relationship as to whether the funds would be paid despite affadavits of the sort, and not often enforced. We get quite a few foreign students here who figure once they get in, they’ll figure out how to get the money somehow. It doesn’t pan out and can end quite badly.
