More classes that are easier or less classes that are harder? Is this a competitive schedule?

So, is it better to take seven classes that are slightly easier or six classes but all honors/ap's? This is my schedule right now. Comments please?

Physics H (technically AP Physics 1 since we end up taking the exam)
Analysis H
English H
AP Chemistry
AP USH
AP Spanish

All of my classes are weighted and I have four AP's (Physics, Chem, History, Spanish). I am currently a junior.

Is this a competitive schedule? So, again, is it better to take seven classes that are slightly easier or six classes but all honors/ap's?

Any responses would be greatly appreciated!

Ideally, you want to take more classes with more rigor, so you should try to fit seven rigorous classes instead of six. Your schedule is definitely competitive, so what you should focus on instead is doing well in your classes.

Thanks for the response. But, just as a comparison, which is better? Taking 3 AP’s and 4 non-AP"s OR taking 4 AP’s but only two other classes? The first one has less rigor, more classes. The second one has more rigor, less classes. Thanks, again.

Anyone, please?

It depends. If the first one is 3 AP’s and the rest honors then take the first one. If they are just standard, then go for the second.

Thanks for the reply. Any comments on the rigor of my schedule for this year?

4 AP’s and 3 other classes > 4 AP’s and 2 other classes > 3 AP’s and 4 other classes, IMO. However, I am not your GC. Which schedule would s/he rate as “most rigorous” on the Secondary School Report?

I think it’s a great schedule IF you have ECs to back it up. I am doing a junior year with 3 APs and 4 Honors, AND

ESL Tutoring
Varsity Volleyball
JV Tennis
Boys Volleyball Team Manager
Yearbook (Co-Captain)
Cross Age Connections Club
Community Service Club
Link Crew
Starting a club the raises money to build schools in needy areas partnered with the foundation Feed the Children
NHS
50 Hours Volunteering at local hospital
25 Hours Volunteering at Museum
4 Hours Volunteering for the Town
Creating a Girl Volleyball league in my town (for elementary and middle schoolers)

Taking an online college course in the spring and 4 more in the summer.

Sadly my 3 APs and 4 Honors don’t count as competitive on their own, but with these ECs I can back it up.

If you want advice/ideas for ECs message me :)

My EC’s:

Robotics (huge time commitment)
Tutor for School Library
Volunteer at a summer program to teach disadvantage children reading, writing, and math
President and founder of an engineering related club
Small group leader for the youth group at my church
Piano
Guitar

Bump

How much to you play the instruments? In groups or no?

You should definitely add some more ECs

And can you get a leadership position in Robotics?

I don’t play music in groups. I do play guitar for my church youth small group though.
It’s unlikely that I’ll be able to get leadership in Robotics…it’s extremely competitive and at the same time is somewhat of a popularity contest.
What EC’s do you think I should consider adding?
Thanks.

Fewer. Not less.
