To all Honors Students:

My son accepted into Honors Program and he is excited. He is currently taking BC calculus and AP physics C and is doing fine. He is planning on majoring in Aerospace Engineering.

We are looking into the Honors Program and have some of the same questions as everybody else.

How much harder is Honors Calc 2 than regular Calc 2 if one has taken BC already? Would it make more sense to take Honors Physics 2 than Honors Calc 2?
Does being in the Honors Program make the engineering curriculum harder? If so, how much? How worthwhile are the electives?

Best as we can tell, the biggest advantage is in creating a smaller community within the greater University. Does the honors program help the students find a niche better? Are there equal numbers of men and women in the honors program? Are the non-academic benefits of the program worthwhile if they add rigor and less flexibility to the regular curriculum?

For now, we expect my son to go to the Oxford summer program and also probably to Lorraine. If so, does that lessen the stresses of the Honors Program with regard to the number of credits needed to be taken each semester, etc. Can some of the Honors Classes be taken as part of the Oxford summer?

Any and all other comments welcome.

I know this has been addressed in other posts and I've looked at them. I just wanted to restart a thread with more of my own questions.

Thanks.
