More Important for Senior Year Schedule and UCs, Physics or Calc?

So I’m having some trouble choosing my senior schedule for next year, namely in math and science. As far as colleges, I’m planning on applying to the UCs, University of San Francisco, Tulane, Arizona State and some others. I’m planning on majoring in communications/media studies/something like that.

My senior schedule so far is AP English Literature, AP Gov/Economics, Bible, French 4 Honors, an arts elective, physics, and calc.

The main problem is that physics and calc together are going to be a struggle for me. I’d be taking the normal version of these classes (no honors or AP) no matter what. I understand that the UCs look for physics, but how harmed will my admissions chances be if I don’t take calc? I’m currently taking trig right now and I have a high A, but I spend more time on homework and studying for this class than any others, including the three APs I’m taking now. I don’t really want to spend another year crying and stressing over a regular level math class when I’m not planning in majoring in anything math or science related.

My question is, how much would not taking calc actually impact my admission chances? Can I not take calc? Should I take calc and not physics? Should I take both and just have a stressful year?

Thanks so much!

What math class would you take if you don’t take Calculus?
You could take Math Analysis, or another math class - if that’s possible.
You DO need a 4th math class.
I agree that one math class + physics is better than not having physics.
Physics is highly recommended whereas not having calc will not be detrimental.

Have you taken pre-calc?

If I didn’t take calc, I would take an easier math class like stats or consumer math. And yes, I’m currently taking trig/pre-calc.

So your high school doesn’t offer analysis or honors calc ? Ask your math teacher.
