I am trying to decide what to do about my schedule for my senior year that would be best to have on my transcript. As of right now, I am a fairly strong student (4.0 gpa and 1300 SAT that I will try to raise) looking to apply to state universities and maybe some private colleges and hopefully recieve some merit aid. I am not as interested in elite schools (> 40% acceptance rate) unless I have a solid shot and enough aid. I am still not sure what I want to major in, but I will likely go for a science major, although it is also very possible that I could decide to pursue a humanities major.
This year (Junior), I took:
Regular math
Regular physics
Regular German III
AP Environmental Science
AP English Language
AP U.S. History
Gym (Required)
Art
Potential senior year schedule:
Hnrs Trig
Hnrs Precalc
AP English Literature
Art (may or may not be AP depending on the school budget)
???
Yearbook
Teacher aide
Hnrs German IV
Now AP Chemistry or AP biology probably would be a great choice for me next year, but unfortunately my school lost a lost of funding and now most AP classes are gone. My options at this point are pretty pathetic for the ??? class. I could do either honors forensics (which concerns me because I would only have one AP), AP Psychology, AP Statistics (I cannot stand math but I could bite the bullet and do this class), or AP Physics (which apparently is incredibly difficult at my school and might destroy my sanity). I don’t know if skipping a science class for a year would be really bad for my transcript as a potential science major, or if only one AP with a bunch of honors classes would be weak too. Thanks in advance for any advice anyone can offer.
