More Prestigious: Cornell or Georgetown?

See my first post mam1959...

they cannot be compared...lets move on

If we are all in accord than why are we arguing over frivolous matters?

Georgetown is probably more widely known, but Cornell is an Ivy. They are both reputable and both offer great academic opportunities and each cater differently to an individual's needsand desires. Anything, beyond that and we are just squabbling over bread crums.

Yeah, mam1959, way to totally not read the OPs post.

This post is really funny, because Gtown and Cornell are my two top choices.

I'd probably prefer Gtown, but I suppose Cornell is better overall/more well known.
Although over the summer when I took a course at Brown, my friend from Korea had heard of Gtown, but not some schools ranked higher than it by US News.

I also think the opportunities of being in DC are better than those of Ithaca.
I haven't visited Ithaca, but Washington is a beautiful city, and there's so much to do... Whereas I think Cornell just focuses around the frats because Ithaca is kinda just gorges and nature.

youre right it is gorgeous

Prestige? In Foreign Affairs, Georgetown. Liberal arts, they're about equal. Everything else, Cornell.

In political science, I think Georgetown wins too.

As a future something-in-social-sciences person, I'm for Georgetown, hands-down. (I'm also Asian and not Catholic, if that matters.) I wouldn't have posted otherwise, but it seemed like Gtown needed a little more love... =)

is georgetown gorges...didnt think so

Do people at Georgetown jump off cliffs? Didn't think so ;)

lol much ignorance on your part venkater if you think its "common" for people at cornell to jump of cliffs

Cornell, but simply by name.

i didn;t even bother to read the previous posts lol...but anyhow...i don;t even see why you are asking specifically about these two colleges
cornell for engineering, hotel managing
georgetown for political science and IR
it's like comparing an orange and a pencil O.o

What about just in general, or for liberal arts?

And obvi Gtown doesn't have gorges, but so what... That was a meaningless statement.
I still remember visiting Washington and really loving everything about it.
But yeah.

Maybe because I'm in California, and I really never knew Georgetown but I'd say Cornell for its overall academic strength and a few world leading majors.

lol gryffon's statement is correct...theres no comparison...gtown is an excellent school but it isnt an ivy league school.

Ivy League is just a football division. Were you aware that only 4 out of every 5 Cornell students can spell their own names?

first of all...regardless that it is a sports division...all these colleges have become 8 of the most prestigious in the world...secondly what is up with all the stupid fun facts that have no relevancy to what were talking about

edit: no use in arguing this..just look at the sjtu world rankings for universities and lets move on to another argument

Cornell is also the butt of many jokes by other Ivy Leaguers

lol guys just check every university ranking out there...im not gonna argue...and again ventaker...upenn is even less well known than cornell so what are you opening your mouth for..

Now that I'm aware how humble Cornell students are, I'll be sure to apply there.
