I was being half-facetious, but you should definitely avoid saying that one school is better than another (even if it is your own school). You also shouldn't cite U.S. News rankings as evidence.

beefs, it is not naive to stand up for your school or alma mater. It is naive to believe that the same enthusiasm, awe or whatever extends to folks that did not attend.

UCA's problem seems to be hanging out in the Boston area. There are a lot of folks that DO care intensely about ivies there. I lived there a long time and saw this repeatedly. But having lived in Chicago, DC and the west coast, I can assure you such views are confined to a small geography

beefs, I kinda get what you're saying and all. but 'man down the pub' don't give two s**ts.

and what is this about recruiters. you make them seem childish and impulsive! Say John Doe is being considered for a promotion to President/CEO of some big multinational corporation. What do they care whether he got his B.S. from Wharton or Arizona State U?

I don't think an ivy league education or ANY education for that matter is a one-way ticket to success.

oh, i didnt at all say that recruiters feel the same way i do. i just said that you all seem to be defending uchicago like someone is attacking it. no one needs to prove that chicago is a top of the line, elite school. at the end of the day, the people that matter in terms of future careers will know how amazing the school is.
