I know the two schools are very different. Obviously, the strong econ program at Chicago is a draw, but I don’t want to be so overburdened and restricted that I can’t explore and enjoy the learning experience (esp with a double major). Brown might be better for interdisciplinary studies because of the open curriculum, and from what I hear, the culture is more relaxed as I prefer.
By the way, if I went to Chicago, I’d probably have a spot on a varsity sport team.
(stats- 2350 SAT, 3.9 GPA)
I’d also consider money–if Chicago is more affordable since you’ll be on the varsity sport team, then do that. If it didn’t come down to money, I’d choose brown because it would be a better fit.
Brown - Ivy. Chicago - Non-Ivy.

lets visit that again

I know. A searingly brilliant analysis of ** Should I go to University A or University B questions** here on CC. Totally unbiased, objective and rational. Something you could never find out on your own. You’re most welcome. Next question. :))
@VeryLuckyParent
lol. But Chicago is arguably more prestigious than Brown. It’s certainly more rigorous. I think the name recognition is about equal.
Nah. Take it from a U of C grad - Brown wins the name recognition battle easily.
By the standardized test scoring of their students, Chicago is second in the country, Brown, 24th. If prestige were to deviate too far from academic attributes such as this, then it would lose its meaning.
You could apply to both and see if you get in and then if you have to make a choice explore it further.
