A housing deposit is different than an enrollment deposit at most colleges.
You can’t have two enrollment deposits.

I think you can, if you can’t put down an (early) housing deposit without first putting down an (early) enrollment deposit, which is the unethical behavior (on the part of the college) I am referring to. It ought to all be refundable, too, but often it isn’t.
The CC thread i linked earlier has several examples of colleges pushing for early deposits of both, or they are one and the same.
My DD was asked to out down an early enrollment deposit. We called the school admissions office, and reminded them she had until May 1 to do so…and they were VERY accommodating.
I’m glad that worked out for you.
One of my kids had an acceptance at a school that did expect an enrollment deposit in order to allow a housing deposit, and they did NOT give back the enrollment deposit if you didn’t attend. It happens.
Because of this, I have no problem with people who double deposit before May if necessary for housing. But you MUST tell one of this school you aren’t attending by May 1.
