Didn’t move on, but nevertheless good luck to those who are moving on. The people who were nominated for my school were (myself included) ranked 3, 3, 7 8, and 10, and I don’t believe any of them are going through. Regardless, still hope for Robinson Scholars and Pogue Scholars and whatever various stuff we can apply to.

Hopefully see you guys around the Thrill soon enough!

Moving on to finalist OOS!! Undeserving and blessed.

I wish all the best to y’all not moving on; you have stellar stats and are crazy high-achieving! Hope to see you as Pogue Scholars etc. at UNC in a year, unless you decide to go Ivy! Good luck in everything!

My OOS teen did not move on. Disappointed but has some amazing other prospects. You all must be really special kids, I know my teen was about the most incredible student and community leader I’ve ever encountered. I wish there were more resources out there for talented young people!

Do most students who are nominated by their school for the Morehead-Cain get accepted into Chapel hill? I was nominated by my school but I didn’t make it through to the next round. Didn’t bother me, I knew I wouldn’t make it but I really want to get into Carolina and i wonder if my nomination is a sign.

I think if your school felt you were qualified to be nominated for the M-C, then you should be fine in terms of being accepted. However, you really never know with admissions and it could come down to some small detail. Are you in-state? If so, I wouldn’t worry much about it.
You don’t hear back until mid-January (I’m assuming you did EA), so in the meantime, don’t worry about it!!! There’s nothing you can do now anyways, so just relax and don’t think about it :)

Hello texaskate! Congrats on your finalist status. My daughter is also an OOS finalist ¶. I just discovered this site and am going to have my daughter sign up as well. She wasn’t even going to consider UNC (I have a thing about in-state vs out-of-state tuition) but after her school nominated her and talked it up, and after reading about the opportunities it presents, how can we not be excited. Though, I am trying not to get my hopes up. I truly just wish the finalist weekend were in January! Anyway, good luck! Keep in touch. I am new to this College Confidential and am having a bit or trouble navigating. Hope to find you again. Will try and have my daughter find you as well!

Thank you so much! That sounds great! I wish it were sooner too; it’s a little tough coming this far but still not having anything be sure. I am, though, seeing this as at the very least a paid-for visit to UNC! :)

Does anyone know how important the semi-finalist interviews are? I don’t think I did all that well, however my application itself they seemed to love. My fingers are crossed for Friday.
