Morrill Scholars Program Class of 2020

@redandblack past threads have said they got a different email separate from the original award email. From there certain students get invited to interview a few days later.

@VaishS Did he say when? I’m assuming it would be this Saturday or next Friday/Saturday since the interview is in March.

@Chopinspiano No he just said that it wasn’t today. I didn’t ask any more

Nothing yet :frowning: I’m at home, sick, so an email would be nice :stuck_out_tongue:

@jumbletumbles I was scrolling through previous threads to answer you statement about the unfairness of having Distinction notifications this early.

Post #90 says that there was another round of Distinction interviews. I have no idea if that applied to last year’s notifications as well. I would assume so unless that did not receive as many applications as the previous years.

DS just received an email at 2:35 pm CST today stating the following: “The Office of Diversity and Inclusion is pleased to inform you that you are invited to campus for Distinction Weekend and an in-person interview to be considered for our most prestigious award, the Distinction Scholarship.”

Good luck to everyone else who is awaiting notification.

I was painting my nails and got the e-mail! AAAAH!!!

Congrats!!!

just got the email!

@redandblack A few minutes ago or was it sent earlier?

Congrats @freezycool and @redandblack!

@Chopinspiano it was sent at 3:30ish

@fatherof2boys Thanks!!

@redandblack Congrats!

Well looks like I didn’t get it. Oh well haha OSU is still cheaper than most of my in-state schools because of Prominence.

@Chopinspiano somebody else in this thread said their counselor told them today wasn’t the only day they’re notifying people - I’d email them to check but I’m pretty sure this isn’t the final notification date :slight_smile:

I’m sorry @Chopinspiano, I was really hoping that you’d get in…you’ve been so helpful to everyone on this forum. Even if you don’t get in on this round, there maybe another round as some have speculated here.

As you stated above, even with just Prominence OSU is going to be cheaper than many other in-state flagship universities. My son’s been admitted to our instate flagship (UT-Austin) and Prominence alone makes OSU about $7K cheaper annually, even after deducting travel costs it’s still over $5K cheaper per year.

Good luck and I hope you still get in for a Distinction interview.

@redandblack @fatherof2boys Thanks! Good luck to you/your son! I’m happy that you guys are being interviewed! :slight_smile:

@Chopinspiano I hope they get back to you with positive news :frowning: But regardless, I’m sure you’re going places :)!

It seems that only the prominence/distinction scholarships have been awarded. Leaving excellence for the February/March period. Does anybody know why they did not assign specific dates this time around, I heard they did last year.

Quick question, are morrill recipients required to live in morrill housing units on the west end? If I chose a morrill housing unit per the scholars program, do I have a better shot at receiving morrill?

Maybe it wasn’t a quick question.

@kidfromchicago - I do not believe the “possibility” of receiving Morrill Scholarship is dependent on which housing you choose.
