Hi, everyone. I am currently applying to schools and was wondering what are some good “balanced” schools. I am looking for schools that have solid academic reputations but also are fun, have a lot of school pride, have a great college town, and have a good social scene. I already have a few (UNC, UVA, Vanderbilt), but was wondering what are some other ones. Thanks!
If you are on a level where you would feel comfortable with the academics, Cornell offers much of what you are seeking plus exceptional natural beauty.
Many schools meet that criteria. What are your other criteria, what are your stats and what can you afford?
I would not call Vanderbilt, UNC and UVA “balanced.” Yes they all have a great college town and have school pride, but they are quite intense. To me, this level of intensity is not “balance” (just my opinion for what it’s worth). My daughter attends one of the schools mentioned and averages about 6 hours a day of work, and more on the weekends. Her roommate recently said that she has never worked so hard in her life.
UT, U of Michigan, U of Wisconsin- also all great academics, school pride with great college towns/cities
Some suggestions that came to mind: Notre Dame, Boston College, USC, almost all Big Ten schools will fit your criteria.
