Discuss

based on what?

Is this an opinion poll? or results of how profs and students voted last Tuesday? I'll assume opinion and opine...

Seems like Beserkely is generally considered pretty liberal
Bob Jones, and Oral Roberts both generally pretty conservative

It was based on voting Tuesday.

I somehow doubt this study encompassed a great amount of schools. It's hard to believe that more people at Brown or Columbia voted for Obama than some of the historical black colleges. I also doubt that any of those schools could trump the University of Chicago, since Obama's house is a few blocks away from campus, and even the few conservatives I know here voted for him.

I would like to know the details of the study, though. What kind of questions were asked? Was it just on the presidential choice?

I'm trying to find the page I found it on. Once I find it I will link it. Anyways the survey was about the whole ballot, not just presidential. So governor, attorney general, senator, etc. was taken in weight.

You forgot about Texas A&M so probably the most conservative schools out there

Yeah, I'd love to see how they compiled this; I’m surprised to see Carleton on there and not, say, Wesleyan or Vassar (I know that Carleton is very liberal, but from talking to my friends there, it does not have nearly as many students that lean majorly left as Wes and I would guess Vassar). No one surveyed me, that’s for sure!

UC Berkeley isn't on the most liberal schools list?!?!!?!?

Living in Maine, it is clear to me that College of the Atlantic is probably as liberal as any of those. I have heard rumors that cafeteria fare there is vegetarian, though this may be incorrect.

The city of Berkeley, yes. UC Berkeley, no. The large percentage of Asians are quite conservative.

and what does it have to do with their mascots? :/

I just felt like posting their mascots. In all my other posts in which I say a college I put the mascot name with it.

Texas A&M for sure.

pitzer college for most liberal list

Newsflash: This isn't the 1960s.

Re: Post #15: Stated that Brown University had 30% who responded as "very liberal to liberal" and 2% of the students identified as "conservative/very conservative", which leads to the question as to whether or not 2% of the survey respondents at Brown are dyslexic.

Swarthmore should be on the list.

Hampden-Sydney College tops the conservative college list.Alas,it would be nice if Davidson were a conservative college. It is actually a very balanced and civilized campus.
GO TIGERS!!!
