Most direct path to Med School?

I'm going to be a freshman this year and was going to major in Biochem or biomed engineering, but it turns out from what I read on this forum that thats a dumb idea.

I was choosing the engineering majors cause Im good at math and they have the highest starting salaries should I not make it into med school for some reason, but if the schedule is to hard and I end up messing up my dream of medschool with a bad/mediocre GPA, I'd rather take the easy way in.
What would you guys suggest I major in that would be the quickes and most accurate way in?
I know theres more than one way, and I should do what I like, but Id rather get my major done with a good GPA than do what I like but fall at the difficulty of the courses, eliminating the chance of getting to Med school

If you’re good at math and interested in the career as a back-up plan, I’d major in biomedical engineering. The truth is, there is no major that’s truly “harder” than another. I am a chemistry major, which is rumored to be more difficult than say, psychology. I do great in chem; however, I’m sure if I were to major in psychology, my grades would be a lot worse.
Just do what you like best, man, regardless of what other people say is a “bad idea” or “too hard”. You will succeed if you follow your best interests.
