most dropped out of major?

What seems to be the engineering major that has the highest drop out rate? Just curious, hopefully not the one that I am looking at going into.

Seriously. Pre-engineering.

yea, Pre-engineering.
atleast in my school.

are you talking about 3-2 programs?

No. In many school/college of engineering, a significant percentage of freshmen just drop out after first year. Ater that, almost all of the students stick around and ocassionally between engineering majors. I read about this from a study done by NAE (National Academy of Engineering).

Sounds about right. That's when most of the "weed-out" courses are.

ok, because some schools have pre-engineering programs so I wasn't sure what you meant.

what about among actual engineering programs?

^ yeah that's what I had in mind.

I would imagine AE, since the switch to ME is relatively straightforward.

Once you get past the first two years - which are mainly intro classes and support courses - I think the vast majority complete their degree.

My impression is ECE.

The contents didn't seem to meet a lot of students' expectations. With Aero, Civil, Mech, ChemE, it's more clear as to what types of jobs you'll have and what the coursework would be like.

I agree with ECE. It's pretty much circuits, circuits, and more circuits, which a lot of people don't seem to enjoy for some reason.

EE....Circuits

EE and CSE in my school have around a 80% drop out rate, we start off with 800 students in the CS 1 course and in CS 2 we are down to 60. the entire cse department only had 109 students.

I think its NE... normally NE to ME.

I think I saw somewhere that about 50% dropped out after enrolling for NE..

At my school, it seems as though the number of BME freshmen was cut in half after the first semester

Whoa what school is that Zorz?

UNIVERSITY AT bUFFALO.
