Hehe! That one shows you the mentality of this place.

I know a valedictorian with a 1200, and I know someone with a 1450 who was in the bottom third of her class (curiously, the same one with the 1200 valedictorian!)
I'm out of the top 10% with a 2290. The 4.0's have anywhere from 1900 to 2080. We don't weight grades and it makes me so mad!

i can completely sympathize with you, ermswim. we dont weight grades and most of our valedictorians are idiots.

This year, a kid with a 1350 failed to graduate and had a D or F is 3/4 of his classes.

I forgot to mention that my friend, who has a 4.0 and is valedictorian so far, got a 20 on her ACT. (I said 22 before, but it turns out that I was mistaken and a different friend got that score.) I guess this DEFINITELY counts as a huge discrepancy! She got a 25 on her retake and literally jumped for joy. I wish I could have an attitude like that! I know shell be happy wherever she winds up going.

3.99 (unweighted)GPA, 1940 SAT, 33 ACT

I haven't really taken the SAT yet, but in freshman year, I had a 4.50 weighted GPA but I got a 168 total on the PSATs (around a 1680 on the new SAT's I suppose). This is in a Newsweek Top 100 school. Is there something wrong with me?

No. It means your test taking skills need a little working on ;) AKA YOUR A FRESHMAN!!! BAH! :P! Start panicking next year.

2.8 UW GPA with a 2190 (760v/730m/700w) here.

Will let you guys know how colleges feel about it, come April.

My friend just graduated with a HEAVILY weighted GPA somewhere in the area of 2.5-7 and an ACT of 29. He has gotten numerous D's, mostly due to lack of effort/apathy.

my weighted high school gpa (including PE and health) is 3.3
my UC gpa (only soph and junior year, college prep classes only, weighted) is 3.14

new sat score of 2010.. i screwed up soph year and took classes that my GC wanted me to take but i had no interest in.. i shouldnt have been in spanish 3 as a soph... i got a 3.8 gpa junior year.

Thanks for all the replies. I remember a girl on this site who was 5th in her class with a 1090, that's a strong discrepancy.

I have a 93UW GPA with a 1470(old), does this make colleges think that I don't work hard enough in school?

I have a 92 average (4.6 GPA according to the thread "Canada's GPA conversion") and I got 1820 on the SATs :(

I have a 3.3 UW -_- around 3.9 Weighted ... (big diff rite lol) 2200 SAT!!

We had 3 vals all with a 4.0 UW/4.97W GPA this year...

There <old> SAT scores were: 1520, 1450, and...1180...</old>

My friend had a 2.9 unweighted GPA and a 1420 on the Old SAT. In my opinion, that is very incongrous.

This speaks to what contributes to a "grade". Is it the knowledge of material or is it turning in the homework consistently? Is it knowledge of the material or the group project, class discussion, the curve of the class, etc. Grades are really difficult to evaluate - although getting As suggests that someone is paying attentio and dotting all the "i"s, frankly, as life often requires. But, are grades a measure of intelligence - too variable.

in my opinion, valedictorians should be scoring no less than a 1400 on the old sat. If they are scoring less than this, they don't deserve the title.

harsh, semifull, I'm glad that my second SAT fulfilled your standard!
If anything, it is obvious that grades and SATs are used as predictors in college admissions for good reason.
