<p>I may not take much away from college rankings but when Newsweek names Carleton 2nd "Happiest" College in the US, even in its inanity, that's something that somehow seems important to report to those who don't know us well. </p>
<p>This "ranking" seems a natural follow-up to Newsweek's 2004 crowning of Carleton as the nation's "Most Fun-Loving" college citing our impressive 1.9 frisbee/student ratio.</p>
<p>BTW, this year we lost the #1 spot to Stanford. While I consider this a lapse in judgment on Newsweek's part, I'll explain this away to uncontrollable factors - Palo Alto weather does trump Northfield's, if just a bit, most of the year (earthquake season excluded).
