Most music schools (like Oberlin) should be gay friendly.

I cannot believe anyone said NYU! All of the other colleges mentioned are LGBT friendly, but NYU consists of many LGBT’s so you will have many many people to relate to. Also I think almost 30% of guys at NYU were gay from some statistic. As a population, NYU has the largest amount of gays in the country than any other college.

try Reed, Mill’s College and New College of Florida

No need to generalize. I grew up in North Carolina and encountered very little prejudice. Both Duke and UNC are considerably more LGBT-friendly than many of the other top colleges I considered for undergrad and grad school.

In investigating “most gay friendly schools” what is taken into account? where did PICT get the numbers/data from?

Brown University! I have some friends that went to the (first annual) Gay Ivy Conference this year (and I’m sure there was a more PC name), and they felt like Brown had the best sense of community. I think the actual LGBTQ organizations on campus fail a teeny tiny bit when compared to other schools that have already been mentioned, but why do students need a club to feel safe when they already feel safe on campus? Some of the biggest parties/traditions at Brown have LGBTQ roots, namely Sex Power God and Star*****, their main message being do what you’re comfortable doing in whatever way you’re comfortable doing it without feeling judged.

I have never been anywhere else where being gay seemed so normal by the general society. I never intended on coming out any time soon when I got to campus, but I did within a week of being at Brown. I think that says something.

Bottomline: Brown is gay-friendly.
