Hi, I’m a current high school student who has a strong passion for theatre. It is my life, and I cannot imagine doing anything else with mine except acting, singing, and dancing.
Where I live we have hardly any access to the arts. I haven’t attended summer programs before except for locally, and I am really eager to. However, due to family finances and health, I won’t be able to participate in any summer theatre programs that are longer than about 2 weeks (possibly 3, but 1 to 2 is better). The only problem is, most short theatre programs are much less rigorous. As you probably know, the most intensive ones run 4-6 weeks, and I cannot seem to find a short intensive that has the same rigor.
You see, I’m really trying to catch up. I’m trying to get revved up for college, and I know I need to catch up a lot. I want to work hard all day long, I really want nothing more. So, I just need a short program that actually holds its students to as high a standard as these longer University programs.
I get that its hard to teach a lot of material in that short of a time, so I’m good with it being just a program specializing in one area. Like just a two week acting intensive, or dance, or singing/dancing. I just need to improve, and grow, but need it to be shorter. So, best short acting, dancing, or singing intensives are probably what I’m looking for and those requests are welcome, just would need boarding for sure if they’re not in Illinois. I have already applied to TPAP, and have a few options that are about an hour away (I live in Illinois and might have access to Chicago this summer, if it helps), but I was just really looking for 1 - 2 week programs that are incredibly intensive in either (or all) acting, singing, and dancing.
