So I am new here to College Confidential and I am also a Freshman in college. My name is Hanna and I was home schooled my entire life and in doing that I completed my requirements a year early. Now I am in college at the age of 16 and won’t be turning 17 until January 19th. I try to fit in and I think it is more myself being self conscience about it. My roommate is fine with me and she is 18 ears old. I have even met a guy and we have started to date and spend a lot of time together and he is 19 years old and he has no problem with my age. It just feels like whenever I am at a party or something I feel like a baby.
I hope with this site and forum I can meet other college age people and talk about college life and studies and goals. I am studying Early Childhood Education.
I finished high school with and attend college with a young genius. He finished his undergraduate degree at 14, finish his law degree a year after I finished my BA. He was 16. Funny, kind, and brilliant young man. He has a PhD and is doing good things for society.
Being young at college is fine. I do think that older students should respect your youth and of course never push you toward things that would be bad for you. By the time you are 18, the age difference will be much less noticeable, not like my baby-faced classmate.
Please, please be careful! College is a big adjustment, and being so young makes it even more so. I would encourage you to not date anyone at this time. Instead of going to parties, find a couple of clubs to join at college and meet people that way.
