Most outdoorsy students?---Bates, Bowdoin, Middlebury

Out of these three schools, which would you say have the largest percentage of outdoorsy students and/or the most outdoors activities available?

They are comparable. If you are looking for folks to do outdoorsy things with, you’ll have your choice of companions at any of these schools.

Depends upon the type of outdoor activities that you envision making a school “outdoorsy”.

Certainly, Middlebury College enjoys a spectacular location with access to major ski resorts.

Bowdoin College has access to the Atlantic Ocean.

These are two of the best schools in the country.

Again, may depend upon the type of specific activity that you are seeking.

My D attended Bates which has a very well established and popular Outing Club. There’s the lovely Thorncrag Bird sanctuary adjacent to campus where students run, hike and have fire pits. Bates owns the Morse Mt. conservancy area. Visiting | Bates-Morse Mountain & Shortridge | Bates College
Students like to go up to Mt. David behind campus and camp out. There’s skiing close by and many students engage in winter sports. It’s very easy to be outdoorsy there.

I guess it depends on the definition of “outdoorsy.” If you mean a few braves souls fighting the elements because the weather is hmm, character forging for most of the academic year - sure, that’s a great selection of colleges. On the other hand, if you mean a lot of students spending a lot of time doing outdoorsy stuff because the weather is so nice, I would suggest adding Claremont 5C to the mix, as one of many examples.
