I know this may seem like an ignorant question...but say a person's goal in life is to get rich, legally, which is the best career path for them?

Engineering+MBA
Medical/Dental (I heard too high of mal practice)
Business+MBA
Econ+MBA
etc....

Well, I hear selling your soul has been a sure fire winner for the past millennium or two...

Haha, get it? Sure fire! I made a pun!

Business is probably a good bet. Just ask the CEO of ExxonMobile. But I would strongly warn you against picking career based on trying to get rich. At the very least you'll be burned out by thirty... and you won't get much satisfaction at the end of the day by getting rich as you would doing something good for the world.

@BZ-why not doctor? I always hear that if you want GURANTEED money, you should become a doctor or dentist/pharmacist. And going into the business field right away is taking a risk, while engineering undergrad+MBA is the golden ticket

One's level of success does NOT really depend on what you study at school or the mundane courses you take. And trust me, there is NO guarantee of anything in today's globalized world. In fact, even doctors, ancient careers as they may seem, are being jeoprodized by today's economic transformation, as more people can seek faster diagnosis through televised communication. Even surgeries can now be done with robotic arms, controlled by doctors on the other end of the globe.

To become successful, it's what you do outside of the conventional classroom that matters today. Because of the recent subprime crisis and rising inflation, formerly lucrative jobs like ibanking being displaced as wall street seeks to cut expenditure.

Do something you love. You'll gain lots of happiness, and we all know you can't buy happiness with any amount of money. You'll be rich with happiness.

It doesn't matter which career path you choose. You'll make money in all of the careers that have been mentioned. Regardless of how much you make, if you don't spend less than you make, then you'll never be rich.
