'most rigorous' - UK A - level?

I understand that Yale expects an applicant to have taken the most rigorous high school course. As I have read, in US high schools its supposed to be 6 subjects, including English and one other foreign language.

But obviously this wouldn't be the same case with Cambridge Advanced Level right? I personally haven't seen anyone take 6 A-level subjects and I doubt it would be possible to cope with the pressure of 6 A level subjects unless you study 18 hours in a day or something.

Anyways, would anyone happen to know what 'most rigorous' course means in terms of A - levels? How many subjects?

Hi, I’m applying to Yale from the UK!!! It’s all relative to your school. Most people do 4AS levels and 3 A Levels in my school, but I’m doing 4 A Levels, an EPQ, AS General Studies and I did 5AS’s last year… I think that consitutes as most rigorous, but it really depends on you within the context of your schools.

Oh, that’s great then. Most students in my school usually do 3 AS levels and 3 A levels, I did 4 AS levels and 4 A levels. Actually, I am already done with my exams and currently taking a gap year. I applied SCEA to Yale and really hoping to get accepted!!

Fingers crossed I’ll see you there :’)

I took 4 AS levels and 5 A levels. I think I am the only one in my country(Egypt) to do that.

Hope it works out for you, and me too :stuck_out_tongue: The wait till 14th December is just killing me.
Do students in your school regularly apply to top colleges in USA?
I think I am the first one in years to apply to an Ivy League university in years.

I am the first one ever!!! :)

Good luck legolas1 and lemming101! You both seem to be exceptionally bright and talented applicants. Wish you the very best.

Thank you
Are you an applicant too?
