most social/party filled dorm?

whats the most social and party filled dorm for freshman. i basically will be in the dorm to sleep and hang out, studying i will do elsewhere. so what would be the best dorm for this?

Probably Jester. It certainly is an experience.

Erroneous, erroneous!

Jester is total crap, not the most social/party dorm; plus it's filled with tons of anti-socials. Anyone that's actually been on campus knows the best (dorm) parties happen at university towers, which is on 24th (an off-campus dormitory). They have no guest limit, they don't even check who goes in and out of the building and sneaking alcohol in is possibly the easiest thing ever; and as long as you close your room, the guards don't give a **** what goes on inside.

I definently agree with hookemhonrs, kcirsch, he doesn't know what hes talking about at all.

Well it seems to be the most social on-campus. sorry.

i think actually the honors quad is the most social on campus. off campus would be towers then castilian. btw, it is kinda hard to sneak in alcohol to towers.

aceestrin, I dunno where you heard about that. it's my freshmen year at UT and I've got a bunch of friends at towers and dorms wise that's where all the crazy dorm parties are at.

As for on campus, I dunno. I'd still lean towards Jester but it isnt as crazy as people make it out to be. Blanton had crazy parties this summer with all the summer freshmen over there.

Yeah i'm def gonna have to second the endorsement of the Towers. and that's great if you've got at least $10,000 the shell out, but by that time, why not live at the villas? as far as on campus dorms go Jester and San Jacinto are usually watched pretty tightly just because they are the largest. I know many kids that have gotten MIP/MICs in both of those dorms. and jester just plain sucks. don't believe the whole "freshmen year experience" crock of doodoo. it's a really impersonal, terrible place. other than that it entirely depends upon how cool your RA is. some RAs don't give a crap and others do, but there's nothing you can do about that. living in the honors quad can be...uh... different. I have friends that live there and whenever i go over there it feels like a different university. It can be nice but it doesn't really feel like UT to me. kinda nerdy. real nerdy. I guess playing murder in the quad just ain't my thang.

Oh and if your a girl, stay away from Littlefield at all cost. The rooms are so small that you are required to bunk them!

I never stayed in Jester, but I've had classes there and I can tell you that I would never want to live in Jester.

I plan on moving into the villas or some other nearby apartments next fall. I'm living in an apt right now but it's too small to have much fun in.

Towers is certainly THE party dorm. Taking in alcohol is no problem, parties are raucous and the dorms are certainly more spacious that those prison cells over at Jester. However, it is of course more expensive than on-campus options.

Any opinions on Castilian?

Castilian isn't really a party dorm, from what I've gathered staying there a couple weekends. You can have small get togethers(the security has often come to the door when we were making a ruckus, and all he said was he didn't care if we drank, just to not make so much noise about it), but the dorm isn't really great for partying overall. It's also pretty impersonal, most likely you'll never get to know the other people on your floor unless you're really drunk and start knocking on doors. It's a pretty decent dorm to live in, decent to good food and whatnot. If you're looking for a place to actually live in, I'd put Castillian on your list. If you want to party, go to Towers. That place is insanely loose.

I got banned from Towers this weekend; **** stan
Now i have to waste my time and get it repealed

I just applied to towers for next year, from what ive heard from friends at UT is that its the place to be if you can afford it, and it really isnt that expensive. Its only about $1000 more a year, and you get a lot more space.
Ive been to a couple of parties there, and security seems to be pretty chill.
Does anybody know how the food is at Towers?

well the security is usually chill; unless it's stan

i'm at the castilian...it is definitly not impersonal; my entire floor hang out everynight...then again, it's kinda what you make it wherever you live. Castilian has a great diversity of kids and is really well priced compared to towers and on campus dorms. I'd recommend it to anyone, plus we don't get in trouble for knocking out ceiling tiles.

yeah it's a pretty laid back place. Kids on my floor can get pretty loud sometimes and aren't given too much trouble about it.

What halls are generally the best for people that are non-druggies?
