What can I say! Lexi told me it was hard to be sad (when we left) when she is so happy and excited!

It was a pleasure meeting with all of you and your kids and I look forward to seeing you all soon.

I was so impressed with the Convocation, hospitality, students, organization, just everything!!! I felt a sense of relief knowing what good hands I left her in.

Lexismom

Lexismom - It was so good to see you and your family, and we look forward to many more wonderful weekends with you at Elon.

Move-in was really very well organized, and I hear that both your daughter and my son got into some of the best dorms. We were very pleased with the amount of space he had after lofting the beds. Things seem so busy that we've only talked to him briefly since leaving, but that must be good!

Here is part of what I posted on another thread about the weekend:

We had a great orientation weekend and are most impressed with everything at Elon. Yes, I shed my share of tears. They were most sentimental / emotional at the formal freshman convocation (acorn ceremony) and also at a couple of parent meetings. How could we help but cry? The school reminds me of a bigger version of his private HS, and we love it! All is well, and we feel he's doing just what he should be doing.

My goodness, how things work out: his senior orientation leader and teaching assistant in freshman orientation course is the young woman who took us on a tour of campus and art dept. 2 years ago and has been most encouraging about the Fellows program (that we are impressed with). I am so glad he's getting to spend more time with her in the small group, as she really helped sell us on the university.

Lastly, and the main reason I got on here to post: the favorite mom of all of the CC family, Melsmom, who of course kept up all our acceptance and decision lists this last year, had a very special treat today. Out of 1275 students in the freshman class at Elon, one of the speakers at freshman convocation picked 4 entering freshmen to highlight in the speech about the outstanding and interesting things that this year's class has done (like helping poor / sick children in Africa and doing major academic projects). Anyway, Melsmom's daughter was one of the 4 students highlighted for her many accomplishments in both dance and theatre! We were so proud to know a celebrity! It was well deserved. I cried some more!
