okay, so do we move out just at the end of the spring quarter in june? or are we required to move out in between the other quarters as well? and how do people manage to take all their stuff back home (like their bikes)? are there any storage spaces for that kinda stuff? okay, i hope i'm not asking a completely obvious question here (or one that's answered in approaching stanford.) but if i am-- sorry guys! hehe.

hope everyone likes their dorm assignments.

i believe you only have to "move out" at the end of spring quarter. I don't plan on taking too much back home for breaks (probably just clothes, laptop). There is long-term bike storage available on campus (lock-boxes, or something like that). I would only take your bike home if you live really close to Stanford.

Don't you have to move out at the end of the fall quarter as well (just before Christmas break)? I read somewhere that they use the dorms for various conferences and stuff, so we have to move out and deloft/unloft/whatever the beds.

uhhhh...i assume so. i mean, can't think why you couldn't. lol, i'm still thinking about getting my bike there in a few weeks, haven't even started on winter break...

You can leave whatever you want in your room over break. They don't use dorms for any activity- all university facilities with the exception of the bookstore(and possibly a few others) shut down for the middle week of break, and many of them shut down for the entire three weeks. This is an effort to conserve energy used on campus while there is no-one there, and it's the reason you can't stay during break- they turn everything off- water, electricity, everything.

how long after dec 16th (last day of finals) do they close the dorms. and how far before jan 10 (first day of new quarter) do they open them up? i'm leaving dec 18 or 19th and coming back jan 7. is that fine?
