Mrs. Washington Goes to Smith (2009) (TV)

The main character is played by Cybill Shepherd–somewhat glam for Adas, perhaps. The director, Armand Mastroianni–I wonder if he’s related to Marcello.

I’m looking forward to seeing it, but we don’t get the necessary cable channel so my Smithie roommate and I haven’t figured out how we’ll be watching it yet. Perhaps we’ll have to wait for the DVD. :)

Well, if I were looking for younger women, I’d check out Smith. Wait…wait…okay, I misread that at first glance. Never mind.

(Note use of subjunctive.)

I’m not expecting too much, I mean, it’s a Hallmark channel movie. But every time the commerical comes on and they show the Grecourt gates I get really excited.

One thing that irks me though, is you know in the preview where the Ada’s trad roommate asks her for sheets and a blanket and the Ada tells her she’s not the housekeeper? You would never ask your housekeeper for bedding. Ever. I feel like that’s just an unneccessary lapse in research.

I saw some previous. It doesn’t seem like a good depiction of Smithies… See for yourselves:

I thought Smith students actually enjoyed their studies…? It seems more like an all-girl’s school.

Well, the winter scenes were lovely and hopefully shot on location. I’m not yet familiar enough with the campus to recognize what was on site. The romance between the poetry prof and Smith students was horribly inappropriate! Too bad the focus of the movie was off, the film makers missed an opportunity.

A lot of it was not shot on location, particularly the exterior of her “house” was definitely not a Smith house. And the gym was green. And then I had to turn it off because the story was so stupid and implausible.

D saw it and registered a “blecch!” when we spoke last night.

I watched it yesterday, and I was definitely not impressed by the acting OR the writing. Then again, I really shouldn’t have expected much from the Hallmark Channel… I was disappointed that there wasn’t more filming on location, though. :(

I’m almost sorry I missed this, it looked cute as a movie though infuriating for anybody with any sense of reality. I get the impression that Smithies now know exactly how Wellesley students feel about Mona Lisa Smile.
