I was curious about this program.
I notice Vanderbilt has a 9 month program for this. Is this sufficient training for someone embarking on a CFA pathway? (Ie to prep for the 3 part CFA exam?).

How would someone in the business world be perceived who went undergrad to Vanderbilt then got then MS in Finance with ultimate aspiration of becoming an analyst/hedge fund manager?
Would it be better to strive for Wharton undergrad over something like the MS Finance pathway?

Thanks.

I generally recommend students do a masters at a different school so they can get another network. With that said, the Vanderbilt program is one of the best in the country.

My son is a PM at a hedge fund. This is the path he took.
Undergrad at Wharton - IB-PE-HF. He is a CFA through self study

Wharton undergrad would be much better than the two programs at Vanderbilt - if you can get in.

The MS program is certainly not necessary for the CFA exams. I think the CFA designation would have more impact than the MS degree.

Thanks for the info!

For CFA preparedness, I would look at the Creighton Master’s in Portfolio analysis and securities valuation. Essentially, this is just a marketing effort to rebrand a MS Finance degree, but the program is designed to prepare for the CFA. Not as prestigious as Vanderbilt or Wharton but probably cheaper, more convenient, and may still get you where you want to go?
