Hi everyone! I’m looking to get a MS in Healthcare Informatics because I’ve been working in the field for 9 years now but with no real credentials. I have a BA and MA in archaeology, but my work experience is in Healthcare IT, and I’d like to advance in my field, but worry that I have very little knowledge of healthcare OR technology beyond the one healthcare app I’ve worked with.
I’m primarily looking for part time, online MS programs so I can continue working (I currently work for a large research hospital). I’m not aiming to go into academia or a PhD program later. I’m not particularly worried about admission to an online program - I have a strong GPA from a top undergrad college and lots of relevant work experience. What I am hoping someone here can help me with is how much does the program matter for this field?
Most online programs seems to have roughly the same required courses and have similar learning outcomes. Will it make a big difference if I go to say, Northwestern’s online program, which is $50K, versus somewhere like USF which is half that price? What factors should I look at when choosing an online program?
Thanks for any help or insight!
