The MS in Information Systems vary (a lot) depending on the school. Some schools require more business courses than others.

IS/IT is all about having the latest/current skills so your electives and/or emphasis will determine your placement.

If I were your advisor, I would make sure you had a background in: Java/C++/C#/Object Oriented Development, Operating Systems, Information Assurance and Database Systems.

One of the reasons oldheads like myself work in databases is because even though knowledge of relational/dimensional database is in big demand, it seems like not many new graduates are into it.

Thanks for that.
Is the salary of IS people less than CS people?
Which companies recruit people for information consultant jobs?

[Boeing: Careers - Interns & Graduates - Rotational Programs](http://www.boeing.com/careers/collegecareers/rotational_programs.html#iscfp)

Might be worth checking out!

I am sure there are other companies as well.

You should get the MIS from an Indian school since that is where all the IT jobs are headed.

lmao…

Take in mind that Global Traveler works in defense, so his/her industry is immune to outsourcing. Hence why he/she always laughs at me when I mention outsourcing, which only a fool would deny happens outside of defense and in the “REAL” private sector.

Homer, weren’t you the one who said defense is NOT immune to outsourcing? Just an observation…

^

Homer, he’s right about database jobs. Managerial Database based Jobs by 2016 will outnumber the number of people actually out looking for them. Sure there is outsourcing, but you silly little accountant at home with potato chips have nothing better to do but try to exaggerate it.

“All” the IT jobs are headed to India. Yup, you know your facts alright…(Sarcasm if you didn’t notice)

Before I obtained a clearance and started contracting in defense work, I worked “REAL” private sector in I.T. departments supporting Heathcare. With all of the media (regular and political) coverage of healthcare, there is NO WAY much outsourcing would happen there either. The HCFAA folks would tear a healthcare company limb from limb.

I laugh because you bring comedy to the threads and the fact that you don’t care how wrong you are but keep posting your views.

Homer does seem to have a lot of his “facts” messed up. He also has to attempt to master the written word a bit better. Homer, if you don’t mind my asking, where are you from, and how long have you been in the United States? Knowing that might help us to understand your point of view a little bit better.

Can you imagine a large pharmaceutical company putting their research, development and product information on a server in Bangalore?

I don’t go around talking about the accounting industry because I don’t work there anymore (last time was in the 1980s). Not sure why an outsider would act as if he is an expert when he is not.

Boston scientific just outsourced most of it’s cathetar assembly line down to costa rica. Don’t just assume all your medical devices and pharmaceuticals are here to stay in the u.s.

How many with MSCIS degrees work on catheter assembly lines?

You guys are right. I am such a fool. Pharmacutical companies will NEVER outsource their research and devleopment.

OOPS!

Driven by the need to improve R&D productivity and efficiency and the desire to access untapped markets, global pharmaceutical companies have increasingly offshored and outsourced operations to CROs in China and India.

Many pharma companies are also sending a lot of jobs to Ireland, believe it or not.

So where do they hold their databases and their management?
