In-state student admitted to both schools. Assuming grades are the same from both, which one is going to be more likely to give my son a chance at medical school? He is interested in the neurosciences.

Not pre-med or anything, but I’d say that MSU edges wayne state on pre-med and overall reputation in the sciences. Hard to say which school will give your son a better chance at medical school - depends most on what your son does while he’s at uni. Overall though, there are likely more research/student opportunities for getting involved in pre-med at MSU. Here are a couple of old threads that might give you more info

Lyman Briggs. The majority of people that go for “pre-med” drop out rather quickly. Even if it’s a life-long dream, blah blah blah. LB is much better overall than WSU especially when you get outside of pre-med. Overall, MSU hands down.
