Lyman Briggs-Pre Med?

Hi, i just got accepted to the Lyman Briggs school in Michigan State University. I am having a hard time finding information about the school (Lyman Briggs). If anyone went there or is going there, can you please comment about the school. I would like to know if it is a good school for students pursuing medical school. Does anybody know the acceptance rate of MSU undergraduates or Lyman Briggs undergraduates to medical school? I also got accepted to University of Detroit and Wayne State. I know U of D has an acceptance rate of 80% of students who got accepted into a medical school. I was wondering how MSU compares to that rate. Thank You!

Hi, congratulations! I'm also planning on going to Lyman Briggs. I don't know the exact figures for acceptance to med school, but I know that its decent. A lot of pre-professional kids go to Lyman Briggs. Its supposed to give you that "small college feel" within the larger university. You take most of your classes within Holmes Hall, which is the hall that you live in. This link should help a little:

Also, congrats on getting into U of D and Wayne!

^I'm an MSU alum who never attended Lyman Briggs, but know something about it... It's a residential college that is very intense and, from all I know, well respected among medical schools. Therefore, I would expect the acceptance rate would be significantly higher than U-D or Wayne and even higher than regular graduates from MSU's College of Natural Science... Briggs is a very good program and you'll receive a lot of personal attention...

Congrats.

thanks for the replies.

My son is at Lyman Briggs and says there about 30 kids in the calculus class and 90 in his chemistry class. Honors classes are even smaller. He is not pre-med but says it seems like a lot of the students are pre-med or going into zoology. He says that even 90 people doesn't seem like much and recitations have about 30 people at a time.
It seems like it is very easy for him to talk to professors and he seems to enjoy it there.
