I'm from Maryland so I'm not really sure - what is MSU's reputation like in terms of how prestigious it is?

It’s pretty well recognized. It is also one of the largest universities in America.

Also they have 3 medical facilities on campus I think. Or hospitals… Something like that.

Overall, it really is a great university. This is coming from an Ohio student too.

MSU has three professional medical programs- college of human medicine, college of osteopathic medicine, and the college of veterinary medicine.

hey im from Maryland too. I didn’t know of anyone else from here who applied to Michigan state. Did u apply to UMD?

I’m from Maryland as well. If you got into UMD college park, go there instead. It’s WAY cheaper than MSU if you live here. Its also got the same big school/party atmosphere. Just my opinion.

ZebraDecoy, very true. I was considering out of state but if a college is similar why pay more?

I did apply to UMD College Park and I got deferred. I find out if I’m in by April 1st.

I’ve heard great things about MSU, but I was just worried a little bit when I saw the average SAT scores for incoming freshman on the Collegeboard website.

MSU is an ACT school so that is a better score to judge MSU students on than the ACT. Yes, MSU is a party school to a certain extent but MSU’s academic reputation has improved substantially just in the last decade. It really depends on what you are going for major-wise as to how good the program is, but overall MSU is a school not to be ashamed of reputation-wise. Although if you are able to get into UMD College Park, definitely go there instead :P
