My D and I are flying in on Saturday for the admitted student program and we would like to check out where the students go for fun on Saturday night. Can anyone suggest some places to go? We're staying with some relatives in Fullerton and will have a car. Thanks.

Since this hasn’t gotten any replies maybe I could broaden the question to ask if there is anything that we could look at or do near the school on Saturday evening when we arrive in town. Restaurants, bookstores or other shops would be nice. Just wanted to get a glimpse of things before we dive into the admitted student events on Sunday. Our relatives live nearby in Fullerton but they have never visited the campus either and would like to drive over and take a look. I read through the visit reports but didn’t see any specific suggestions other than “the village” and a sushi restaurant but we don’t really like sushi. Thanks for any information.

It may be that the lack of response is that it seems that many Mudders hang out on campus on Saturday night, and do whatever seems interesting there. And this varies.

The Village is cute and is worth wandering around, but that won’t take a lot of time and I don’t know how many Mudders you will run into. There are a number of restaurants beyond sushi there. There is one called Forks, it is a bit pricey, but very good over on the egde of the Village, I think on First.

There is a modestly priced Italian place at 126 Yale, called Arrufo’s Italian Cuisine. It is consistently good. There is also a good place for bagels and breakfast on Yale, called 42nd Street Bagels. I think they also have smoothies.

Enjoy the Admitted Student Program. I was really impressed last year. But plan to be worn out. They pack a lot in.

Hopefully you will still see this. I’ll make a couple of suggestions but they are pricey. Though not as consistent as the price would indicate enjoyed Tutti Mangia in the village. Not personally a big fondue fan but I am big jazz fan so like me you might enjoy the Hip Kitty depending on what group is playing. Unfortunately, after paying tuition, son goes to Pomona, we usually just go to Some Crust bakery. Not for Sat night but you really need to visit there. If you are not from California you will need to go to In-and-Out. The chain is not in the village but close by and a Californa legend. Every national chain is close by in Montclair or Upland or even Buca di Beppo less than a mile from HMC but you can visit those at home. Have fun.

Ya, usually there is enough activity and work to keep us Mudders on campus on Saturday.

This is after you visited probably, but for next time: Legends Burgers on Mountain in Upland (5 min away) they have awesome fries and shakes. Vince’s Spaghetti on Foothill Blvd in Rancho (same Foothill Mudd’s on)… and umm… Victoria Gardens also Rancho is a cute outside mall with many restaurants… haven’t been to Inland Empire in awhile, but grew up there.

Thanks for the replies. Unfortunately we have already visited and returned home. Saturday night we drove around the village area and there seemed to be a lot of students around. We had a burger at Heroes which was good but the waitress was very unfriendly towards us. On the way out of town yesterday we stopped at Jamba Juice for a drink. There did seem to be lots of on-campus activities plus the food we were served on campus was really good so maybe no need to go to restaurants?? My D still hasn’t made up her mind on colleges but if we are back at Mudd in August we will definitely try out the suggestions given above. Thanks!
